Marvin Jordan, Jr Obituary

Marvin (MT) Jordan was born on July 5, 1955, as fifth born child to the late M.T.  and Maggie Jordan. He proudly graduated from Murphy High with the Class of 1974 in Atlanta.

During his formative years at Murphy, Marvin distinguished himself as a star athlete, earning letters in basketball, football and track. He ranked in the top 15th percentile in the nation for basketball and was the captain of the basketball team and quarterback for football.  The leadership qualities he exhibited on the court, track and field seamlessly transferred into his entrepreneurial journey by which he founded his own trucking company, Marvin Jordan Trucking, which he successfully operated for several decades.

On April 11, 1981, Marvin was united in holy matrimony to the late Joyce King Jordan. Their bond, which began in middle school, flourished for over 40 years, characterized by love, hard work and unwavering commitment, until the Lord called Joyce home on July 19, 2022. Their union was blessed with four daughters, Latasha Day, Charmaine Dunn, Monica Smith, Ebony Jordan and one son, Thaddeus Swan. Marvin favorite line to his daughters was" I'm Daddy, no matter what".

Marvin was known for his keen sense of style, witty humor, and uplifting essence. His favorite color was orange, which symbolizes Marvins warm demeanor, joyful spirit, and emotional strength. He cherished moments spent fishing and barbequing with his brothers and was renowned for his lively shoulder dance at social gatherings.

A devoted member of Straight Life Church of God Pentecostal Inc., Marvin’s faith was a guiding light for all who knew him.   His walk with Christ inspired many. He read his Bible daily and participated in the Truck Ministry Prayer Line every morning while on the highways.

On August 1, 2025, Marvin was called to eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family. His memory will be cherished by his children, Latasha Day, Charmaine Dunn (Jerry), Monica Smith (Antowyn) and Ebony Jordan; his grandchildren Tyra Wakefield, Mason Dunn, Amari Hall, Aiden Smith, Anthony Smith, and Kennedi Greene; his brother Willie Carr, Larry Jordan (JoAnn), Dr. Quincy Jordan (Glenita), Stanley Jordan (Leticia),  Alan Wayne Jordan (Kim), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was welcomed into the glorious kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by his father, M.T Jordan, mother, Maggie Jordan, wife Joyce King Jordan and sisters Louise Gober (Charlie), Cathy Turner, and Roberta Stephens who preceded him in eternal rest.
