Obituary

Robert L. Blackmon Jr., affectionately known as "Cat Daddy," was born on December 1, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Marie (now deceased) and Robert L. Blackmon Sr. He attended Fairley High School, where he became well-known as a talented percussionist in the school's marching band. Robert was a devoted son, brother, husband, and stepfather. Throughout his life, he held various vocational positions, most notably spending the majority of his career as a forklift operator. Yet his true gift lay in the way he connected with people. Robert was a people person in every sense of the word—warm, humorous, and full of life. He brought joy into every room he entered, lighting up faces with his sharp wit and infectious spirit. A lifelong lover of music, Robert was a self-proclaimed musical connoisseur who appreciated all genres. His evolving taste in music reflected his openness, his curiosity, and his zest for life. Music wasn't just a passion—it was a part of who he was. Above all else, Robert deeply loved his wife, Mrs. Jackie K. Blackmon. From the moment they reunited, his devotion to her was unmistakable. Their love was evident to all who knew them and stood as a testament to the strength of their bond. His affection for his family ran just as deep. Whether it was his stepchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, or cousins, Robert gave freely of his love—never asking for anything in return. Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Robert L. Blackmon Sr. (Shundrea); his beloved wife, Jackie K. Blackmon; his children, Raphiel Murden, Ramone Burks (Cassaundra), Rosae Turner (Jonathan); five grandchildren, Jonathan Turner, Jalencia Turner, Naomi Burks, Jazelle Burks, Luna Burks; five siblings, Lacey Anderson (Jennifer), Lajuana Gentry,  Tracey Blackmon (Donald Holmes), Stacey Blackmon, Cory Blackmon (Jacqueline); and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
