On May 29, 1945, Mary Louise Miles was born in Chicago, Illinois.  She was the youngest of ten children born to Monroe and Lillie Smith.  She was baptized at the age of twelve at Greater Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Chicago under the leadership of Rev. William McDowell.  There she attended Sunday school every Sunday and sang in the Senior Choir. She went to Baptist Training Union and the Baptist Young People's Union.  She later joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Markham, IL guided by Pastor Willie Jordon.  After moving to Georgia, she joined Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James C Ward.   As a child, she attended Sherwood Elementary School on the south side of Chicago. After moving to the west side of Chicago, she attended Crane Technical school.  She graduated in June of 1962.  She then attended Wilson Junior College and DeVry University.  She entered the work force with Allied Radio and then Speigel's.  Her next venture was employment with Cook County Credit Bureau which is now TransUnion.  She moved on to AT&T in February of 1968, which divested to Illinois Bell and Ameritech. She retired there in 1992.   During her adulthood she married and had (in her words) two beautiful children Robert J. Taylor, Jr. and Dr. Marysia Lynn Taylor.  She helped raise and influence two grandsons of whom she was very proud, James A. Taylor and Marcus Taylor.   She loved to cook, especially for her grandsons.  Her favorite meal to cook was Thanksgiving dinner.  Her passion was bowling and playing bridge.  She loved the Lord and going to church.  She and her best friend, Norlean Taylor, met when they were 18 and 19 years old in Chicago and remained best friends for over 60 years. She will always be remembered for her service and for her love of her family.  She was a provider for her children, a doting grandmother, a supportive sister to her siblings, a playful cousin, the adventurous auntie for her nieces and nephews, a caregiver for the sick and shut-in, a house cleaner for those unable to do for themselves, a loving wife, a best friend, a bowling teammate, a competitive bid whist and bridge player, and a dancer who could do the Chicago style bop.  Her most valued attribute was serving the Lord. She was indeed a child of God.   She leaves to mourn a son and a daughter, best known as "Robbie and Lynn"; two grandsons, best known as "AJ and Marcus"; cousins, nieces, nephews & close friends; Norlean and Jake Taylor; Sister Gail Webb; her favorite cousin, Faye Smith; play son, Kirk Brown; play daughter, Marylee Thornton; loving neighbor, Ms. Erna Palmes; nephrology nurse, Krystena Anderson; and a host of friends.
