With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dianne Whitley Blaikie, who passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024. She was 77 years old. Born on June 17, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, Dianne Whitley Blaikie was the cherished child of Harold Clifford Whitley and Nell Frances Thompson Whitley. She grew up in Covington, Louisiana, and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana and Mary Baldwin University. Dianne spent over 40 years in a fulfilling career in the banking industry, leaving a legacy defined by her kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of others. Throughout her distinguished career, Dianne played a key role in significant projects, such as the Model Banking and Bank South transitions, and led initiatives that improved processes across the bank. She also successfully set up three offshore processing locations, ensuring the continued efficiency and growth of the company's operations. Dianne was not just a manager but a mentor and champion of employee engagement. She believed in leading with empathy and always balanced her keen insight with a compassionate heart. Dianne was known for her unique ability to encourage and inspire those around her. She contributed to the growth of countless colleagues, offering guidance, support, and a genuine belief in their potential. As a manager, Dianne's leadership style was marked by her thoughtful approach and natural ability to bring out the best in her team. Dianne was deeply committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment. She inspired others to be their best, fostering a culture of care and collaboration. Her kind and lovable nature made her a beloved figure within her team and across the broader organization. Dianne's warmth, leadership, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside her. Beyond her professional life, Dianne was passionate about gardening, animals, and music. She enjoyed travel, scuba diving, and anything outdoors. She was also deeply committed to giving back, volunteering with many organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, and Hero Dog Rescue, touching many lives through her kindness and generosity. Dianne completed the Master Gardener program, completing her volunteer hours at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. She was a loving presence in her stepdaughter Heather Blaikie's life. Above all else, Dianne was devoted to her loving husband his loving wife of 37 years, David Norman Blaikie. They passed away together. Dianne is survived by Heather Blaikie and her spouse, Llano Blue; chosen family Joshun (Joe) and Claudia Gordon, and "S-Grandkids" Denali Gordon, Arianna Gordon, and Britnie Acevedo; her brother Hal Whitley and his wife Erin, and their children Tommy, Aimee, Ben, Adam, and Grace; and sister-in-law Roberta Whitley and her children, Scott and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Clifford Whitley and Nell Frances Thompson Whitley, and her brother, David Whitley. A celebration of life will be held for close friends and family at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, or Hero Dog Rescue in honor of Dianne's memory and the causes she cared deeply about. Her warmth, compassion, and spirit will live on in all who knew her.
